Brandon students will begin trying out for UIL Academic teams on October 22nd, during the school day. This will be an ongoing process, until teams are finalized.
Students who are able to keep their grades at a 70% or above will be eligible to try out for: 
Creative Writing
Dictionary Skills
Maps, Graphs, and Charts
Music Memory
Number Sense
Oral Reading
Ready Writing
Spelling
Storytelling
A final team for each academic event should be chosen before November 16th.
The actual competitions will be held January 10th for Writing; January 11th for all other events.
Students who are chosen to participate in UIL events will come home with additional information, permission slips, and study materials, after October 22nd.
