Amanda Calk is the new Student Nutrition Services director for Lufkin ISD. She will replace Donna Middaugh, who announced her retirement after being with the district for 13 years. Mrs. Calk comes from Huntington ISD, where she served as the child nutrition director for the past 12 years. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science in food, nutrition and dietetics in 1998 and started her career with the Women, Infants and Children program. Upon completion of the Texas Department of Health Dietetic Internship in 2002, she became a registered dietitian. Mrs. Calk lives in Lufkin with her husband, James, and their daughter, Shelbie.
Mrs. Calk said at a recent board meeting, where she was introduced, “I am truly honored and excited to be here. I am very driven for success and also have a pretty big heart for the kids. The kids in this district are my main priority. I want to make sure they are well nourished and taken care of.”
