Dear Parents and Guardians,

Cherree Hall, Principal

It is our pleasure to welcome you and your child to the 2019-2020 school year at Garrett Primary.  My name is Cherree Hall, and I am the principal of Garrett Primary. Our dedicated staff works very hard to meet the individual needs of all students, and maintain personal connections with their families.

Each school year, parents have the opportunity to tour the school and meet their child’s teacher. It is very important that you and your child visit Garrett this day as the teacher will have important information regarding the first day of school. You may also bring school supplies to your teacher at this time, attached you will find the school supply list. Meet the Teacher is scheduled for Monday, August 12th from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

All students must be registered in Skyward prior to attending school on August 14th.  Please call the school with any questions regarding the registration process. In order for enrollment to be complete, we must have the following information up to date:  proof of residence (current utility bill or lease agreement), copy of driver’s license, updated shot record, child’s birth certificate and social security card, and proof of income.

We are  excited to announce that due to additional funding from the state, our PreK-4 program at Garrett Primary will be extended to a full day program. The school day at Garret Primary will be extended to 3:05 p.m. for the 2019-2020 school year. The school day hours will be 7:40 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. This extended time will provide students with enrichment opportunities in music, PE, technology and library. For those students who ride the bus, please make sure your child is registered for transportation services at the LISD Transportation Services at 811 S. Timberland Drive on July 29th through August 1st, 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. or August 5th through 7th from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. If you have questions about bus routes, please contact the transportation department at 936 634-6516.

All students will be given a tag for their backpack indicating how they will get home.  It is imperative that you keep this tag on their backpack and update the school if we need to make any changes throughout the year. Together, we will continue to improve the quality of our school community and provide the best for the children of Garrett Primary.  In order to keep your child safe we will require all visitors to show your ID when on campus, including when signing out students. Education is a partnership between the school, students, parents/guardians, and community.  All children are more successful when we work as a team to achieve our academic goals.

Sincerely,

Cherree Hall
