It is my privilege to welcome you to Paul Lawrence Dunbar Primary School! If you are new to Dunbar, we’re so glad to have you and your family! If you are a returning family, welcome back!
Our campus serves almost 400 students in K-2, and our team of passionate educators work tirelessly and with intentionality to meet the needs of our students. We are committed to delivering a quality education to all students and through STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics), we provide our students opportunities to work collaboratively, solve problems, and think critically so that they are equipped for their future.
As literacy is the foundation for our young students, we continually focus on students’ literacy both in the classroom and through special campus events including Mystery Readers, Global Read Aloud, Camp Read-A-Lot and Dr. Seuss Week Celebration among other special events. We encourage volunteerism, mentoring and support and have a history of strong community partnerships. Local Master Gardeners join our second grade students for the Learn, Grow, Eat, Go! program sponsored by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and this year we will have monthly reading events supported by Rotarians Read, an initiative of the Angelina Rotary Club. Our parent volunteer organization, PTK (Parents/Teachers/Kids) is active in supporting our school, and a great way to be involved. You can join their Facebook Group, Dunbar Primary PTK to find out more about their activities. Also, follow me on Twitter @DorindaWade to see a little of the exciting learning is taking place at Dunbar.
We look forward to a terrific year and thank you so much for trusting us with your children!
