In previous years we have had many wonderful Black History Programs. This year is a little different, as we are continuing to be extra cautious with Covid, but this year will not disappoint! Book Fair this Week! 2/28-3/4

The Spring Book Fair is here with fresh choices of books, journals, posters, Spy Pens and more! This is a great opportunity to stock up on books for Spring Break reading! If you don’t want to send cash, there is an eWallet option that is easy to set up for students to shop within a budget. Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Godparents and Friends are welcome to open up an eWallet account to support your special kiddo in reading. There is also an Online shopping option, for thousands of book titles to choose from. Whether in person, or online shopping, shopping for new books is fun and exciting for those of all ages!

Music Matters!

We have had some parents ask how they can help their students at home with music. We use a program called Quaver and each student has their own account. The photo attached lists some different tools they can use to help them on recorder, rhythms, and reading music. They should be able to log in with their Classlink.

Two day Symposium

Two day Symposium

Parents for African American Academic Success will be held at the Convention Center. Friday, Feb 11 at 6pm is a meet and greet. The actual symposium will be Saturday, Feb 12th from 9am to 2pm. Lunch will be provided. Join the Black Lufkin alumni and Lufkin area residents to share stories and talk about their careers in various areas. You will not want to miss these exciting events for community, lunch and door prizes!

Be on the lookout for an article in the Lufkin Daily News! Our very own 3rd grader, Emmaly Olivares, won 1st place, out of over a hundred MLK poster entries. It should also be noted that this contest was open to all LISD students grades 3-5! We are so proud of our Brandon Bears, Emmaly and the second place winner, Janelle! #BrandonPrideNeverDies

The grade level who had the most extra change in the Book Fair ”All for Books” boxes would be able to challenge the principals in a game of Simon Says during lunch. Our 4th grade students came up with some fun commands! “Simon Says Dance your weirdest dance.” ”Simon Says Dance like a chicken.”

Halloween Grams Were a Success! Now for Christmas Grams!

Brandon Elementary Student Council members worked hard advertising, selling, assembling the Halloween Grams, and it brought in $200 towards the Brandon Elementary Scholarship fund. These scholarships are awarded to Lufkin High Seniors that attended Brandon Elementary. Once a Brandon Bear, Always a Brandon Bear! Thank you for your support in this fundraiser, as well as spreading good cheer! We hope the Christmas Grams are equally, or even more successful!
