Our second grade students studied owls by reading Owl Moon, researching owls, and discussing what “owling” is. After this study our second grade classes were visited by Hermes the Owl and Whitney Heckler, a very knowledgeable Zoo Educator! There was a great amount of excitement as the feathery friend was removed from his cage. The zookeeper then explained the eating and hunting habits of Hermes and how he is taken care of at the zoo. Many questions were then asked by the 2nd graders. A fun time was had by all!!! Slack truly appreciates the amazing partnership we have with the Ellen Trout Zoo!
