College Week at Herty Primary

It’s College Week at Lufkin ISD. Students are enlightened and encouraged on opportunities beyond high school. It’s never too early to promote higher education, whether it is college, trade school, armed forces or a university. Teachers are talking to the kids this week about their future and each class has their classroom door decorated to promote student success.

Cook & Serve

A volunteer ministry led by LISD’s own Cindy Tierney with Lufkin’s First Methodist Church will provide a hot meal on Saturday, April 10th at Herty Primary to our Herty and Coston school families. Food will be ready to be served around 10:30 am. Come on out to Herty Primary for food and fellowship, Saturday, April 10th.

Virtual UIL Award Ceremony

Herty second graders recently competed in the UIL Competition with other Lufkin ISD primary schools. We have some winners with Alicia Mendoza winning 4th place in Creative Writing and a team of Emerson Villanueva, Jose Reyes, Daphne Rodriguez, Makayla Cuevas and Jasity Orta winning 6th place in Music Memory. Congratulations to all of our Herty kiddos that competed!

100 Book Club

Turkey in Disguise!

Turkey in Disguise!

Mrs. Cobb’s class wrote and published a book, Turkey in Disguise! The book was a collaboration of some super smart first grade students. Mrs. Cobb says “I am so proud of the work they did, and they are so proud to see their writing in an actual book.” Herty is proud of these young authors and illustrators! Well done Turkeys!
