Thanks to Amanda Smith and other PTK members, Herty teachers were blessed with a week’s worth of catering to and more food, treats, snacks and drinks that is imaginable. Special thanks to Quad Graphics for a wonderful luncheon from Roost. Also, appreciation goes out to TImber Creek Church for Chick Fil A and other monetary donations. Shout out to Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Keel and Mr. Joe for a delicious fried fish buffet with all the trimmings and a new supply of homemade pickles by Mrs. Glenda Keel. (If you haven’t had Glenda’s pickles, you’re missing out!) In addition to all of that, Lufkin High School Culinary Arts fixed us up with some yummy cookies and treats. Lastly, but most certainly not least, a huge thank you to Lufkin’s First Baptist Church for a breakfast buffet on Friday to kick off Field Day. In addition, they lined our hallways with red carpet treatment with a star for every employee! This has been a year for the books. We are very lucky to have so many people vested in our school. Your efforts are so, so appreciated.

Shout out to these ladies! We want to say a big “thank you” for serving us twice daily. You ladies are awesome. Also, congratulations to Cassandra and her crew for receiving a perfect score on the state inspection. The city inspector reports that they are doing a great job with keeping the campus/kitchen in compliance!

These ladies!!!!! We give a big “thank you” to Mrs. Betty Wilson and Mrs. Lorena Gaitan for all they do for us here at Herty Primary. Happy Administrative Assistan’ts Day to you both. You are appreciated.

Mark your calendars …… Herty’s annual field day will be May 5th. Plan on coming out to watch your student compete in numerous fiesta fun activities. See the flyer for specific times for your child.

PreK and Kindergarten Sign Up, April 4th

Come out to Herty Primary on Saturday, April 1st, from 8 am until 1 pm to PTK’s annual Rummage Sale.

Lufkin ISD will be closed for Good Friday on April 7th and Monday, April 10.

As a PTK fundraiser, your child will have pictures made with the Easter Bunny on Tuesday, March 28th. Pictures can be purchased. Be checking their backpack for further information.

On Tuesday, March 21st, Spring and class (group) pictures will be made. Please check your child’s backpack for photo packets that have went home.

Some Herty Hornets competed in the annual LISD city wide track meet. Click on “read more” to see pictures from the event.

On Thursday, March 30th, Herty Primary will have Spring Fling. Plan on coming out to the school from 5:30 til 7:30 pm for an evening of games, concessions and family fun!

On Friday, March 10th, Herty Primary will have early dismissal. Special Education classes dismiss at 10:45 am. General Education classes dismiss at 12:00 noon.

Lufkin ISD will be closed March 13 through March 17 for Spring Break. School resumes on Monday, March 20th.

Kindergarten graduation pictures will be made on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023. See your child’s backpack/folder for more information.

The Christmas season is in full swing at Herty Primary. From a fabulous hot chocolate bar for staff to so many fun things planned for the kids, Herty is busy, busy with Christmas excitement. Click on “read more” for more pictures and check back later for more Christmas posts.

No school Monday, October 10th. All LISD campuses will observe Columbus Day.

Fall school pictures will be made on September 20th. Watch for flyers and information to come home soon.

Grandparent’s Day will be celebrated on Friday, September 9th. We’ll have some fun activities for our grandparents to enjoy with their grandchild(ren). Check your child’s backpack for information specific to his/her grade level.

Today is Speech Pathologist’s Day and we have the best ever …… Mrs. Jamie, we love you!!

All Lufkin ISD Schools will be closed Friday, April 15th and Monday, April 18th in observance of Easter.

Herty Primary enjoyed a night of families and fun at Spring Fling 2022. Kids played games, had faces and hair painted, played with their friends and ate concession stand food. It was a great evening …. the weather was just right and a good time had by all.
