Muffins with Mom in Mr. Wade’s Class
Mr. Wade’s class hosted a “Muffins with Mom” breakfast in celebration of Mother’s Day. Moms were treated to muffins, fruit, and kolaches along with juices. The classroom was beautifully decorated with flowers, pictures of the students and balloons. The students presented their mom with an “all about mom” writing piece and a gift of appreciation. This celebration was complete with a photo booth, a slideshow of moms with their children and a dance and singalong in honor of all moms! Ms. Beaudion Completes LISD Leadership Academy
Congratulations to Ms. Amy Beaudion, 1st grade teacher. She completed Lufkin ISD’s Leadership Academy and graduated this week! Ms. B will graduate from Lamar University soon with her Master’s Degree.

Student Utilizes Technology to Communicate
Ivan Velasquez, a student in Mrs. Tracy Morris’ class, is a pledge helper this week for his class. He uses his communication device to communicate with fellow students and staff at Herty Primary. In the featured picture, Ivan is shown using this unique machine as he recites the pledges during our daily announcements. Thank you Mrs. Morris for working so hard to get this device for Ivan AND all you do for our Herty kiddos!

Teacher Appreciation Week
It’s Teacher Appreciation week across the Nation. Herty teachers have been generously treated to a wonderful fish fry by Mr. and Mrs Freddie Keel (Mrs. Riggs’ parents). First Baptist Church has surprised us with snacks, breakfast with Starbucks coffee, an awesome cookie/drink assortment. Then to wrap up our special week, First Baptist fed us a delicious nacho bar complete with beautifully decorated tables and a fiesta of cupcakes! We feel so lucky, appreciated and blessed! Celebrating Nurse’s Day
Herty Primary is so thankful for Nurse Glenda Walker. In celebration of Nurse’s Day, she received some beautiful flowers and cards/posters from the kids! Also, Herty Primary recognizes and appreciates PPCD nurses Brittany Barrett and Heather Smitherman!

Cinco De Mayo/Field Day 2019
Due to excessive amounts of rainfall recently, Herty Primary combined field day with Cinco De Mayo and celebrated with a modified schedule. Students seemed to have a great time. From a musical Hat Dance, to Pinata poking, to passing the peso and pepper games, concessions and a trip to the book fair ….. it was an eventful Friday at Herty Primary! Special thanks goes to Coach Jessica Williams and volunteers from Lufkin First Baptist Church!

End of Year Banquet

College Week at Herty Primary

Easter Bunny Service

Teacher of the Year – Kim Hamilton

Young Athletes Program 2019
Herty Primary held their annual Young Athletes Program. The Young Athletes Program is a precursor for the Special Olympics. This event is for students that are three years old through eight years old. These students/athletes learn the fundamentals setting them up for participation in the Special Olympics. Worms, worms, worms!
It’s been a special week in Mrs. Hamilton’s class! Students are learning about insects and had a surprise waiting in the discovery table! Spring Fling 2019
Herty Primary enjoyed a fun-filled evening at Spring Fling. The beautiful spring weather encouraged many families to come out and play games with their children. Click on “read more” for lots of pictures of our annual event!

Spring Fling, March 28th
Mark your calendars! Herty’s annual school carnival, Spring Fling, will be Thursday, March 28th from 5:30 to 7:00 pm! Come on out and enjoy a fun filled family evening playing games, winning snacks/drinks and prizes.

Dr. Seuss Day 2019
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! Herty students wrapped up the week by celebrating Dr. Seuss-style.
Teachers planned lots of fun activities based on the many, many books written by the favorite author. Mrs. Riggs dressed as the Cat in the Hat and read to the students. Not to be outdone, the cafeteria staff prepared green eggs and ham for lunch!
