Welcome to Colonial Boston! The Boston Market is a long time Brandon tradition for the 5th grade GT students. First they had a drawing to see what profession from the 1700s to study. Once they found out if they are a blacksmith or a fur trader, or any number of professions, they immersed themselves in learning all about it, and transporting back to the past.

During the presentation, the students dressed up, and stayed in character, as they taught others what they learned. You probably knew that wigs were fashionable for men to wear, but did you know why they were white? They put white perfumed powder on the wig for the aroma, but they didn’t really care about the white. In fact they would let the wind blow the powder off, and keep the scent.

The parents and friends visited the booths first, then the different grade levels came to learn all about the Boston Market.

After a brief survey, the bread makers were the favorite booth, since they passed out bread (asking first if there were any food allergies).
