Friends, family members and Trout Primary staff gathered on the playground at Trout Primary on a beautiful Friday afternoon to remember a dearly loved teacher, the late Cathy Bradley Carr. Friends spoke of how Mrs. Carr attended school at Trout as a child and came back to teach. She played on the playground with the children and made many memories with her students there. Her friends and family members wanted to create a permanent way to remember their loved one by installing two granite benches with inscriptions on them about Mrs. Carr. The benches will serve as a respite for students and teachers alike to enjoy a calm area to maybe read or rest. The benches are a lovely addition to the new playground equipment that was just delivered this week from an ongoing fundraiser to upgrade the playground. In addition to the dedication, 2nd grade students wrote essays describing characteristics of a great teacher. The first, second and third grade winners (Aiyanna Hentry, Anne Langlinais, ZaMaree Johnson) read their poems to Mrs. Carr’s friends and family. Kay Goodwin closed the ceremony with a prayer. Following the bench dedication, refreshments were served in the library where visitors could sign children’s books dedicated to Mrs. Carr that will be permanently displayed in the school library.
Thank you to all of Mrs. Carr’s friends who coordinated this dedication in memory of a beautiful spirit who taught and loved the children at Trout Primary.
