For both classes, today marked a new beginning for grades. You may be saying, “But wait, we aren’t at the end of the Nine Weeks yet!” Grade-wise, we have seen that time come. That is, everything from today onwards goes on the next nine weeks. This means that averages restart and you are given a chance to “go out with a BANG!” Take advantage of this!

In Geometry, we started Unit 5, where we looked at the Pythagorean Theorem and learned how to simplify radicals. It is pretty straight forward, as most have seen the Pythagorean Theorem already, so there’s not much to say here other than to see the notes for the details.

In Algebra II, we looked at how to do operations with radicals. For addition and subtraction, this entailed first simplifying the radicals and then seeing if we can combine like terms. I don’t think that part was too hard. Multiplication had a little more to it, but I still don’t think it was bad. All you have to do is multiply what’s outside the radicals together, then what’s inside, and lastly, simplify the radical.
