Mark your calendars! Lufkin Middle School’s 8th Grade Student Council is thrilled to sponsor the end-of-year dance—a night of celebration, memories, and fun. Join us in the heart of downtown Lufkin at The Grand, on Wednesday, May 22nd, from 7 to 10 PM, for this unforgettable formal event.

We’re committed to making this dance a cherished memory for all our students and kindly ask you to review and discuss the following guidelines with your child to ensure a wonderful experience for everyone.

We are brimming with Panther Pride as we send off an extraordinary group of students to represent us at the Angelina County Fair. Each of these remarkable individuals has shown dedication, creativity, and hard work in their preparations for the fair. Whether they’re showcasing livestock, arts and crafts, or culinary skills, their efforts embody the spirit of excellence we cherish in our community.

LMS and CIS hosted a Black History Month Essay and Art Contest. The winners received a $50 Visa Gift Card from our contest sponsors at the Angelina County Citizens Chamber of Commerce.

Students had the opportunity to interact closely with a variety of vehicles ranging from a towering fire truck to sleek patrol cars, a SWAT vehicle, an ambulance and even a helicopter. The drivers/pilots were on hand to provide insight into the workings of each vehicle and to answer questions. The students got to climb aboard their favorite vehicles, honking horns, flashing lights and operating some controls under supervision. They were also able to meet our Angelina County Sheriff Tom Selman.

GeoFORCE is a partner out of the UT Austin Jackson School of Geosciences that provides summer academies which introduce GEAR UP students to geological wonders throughout the United States.
