Dr. Goffney met with the Superintendent Ambassadors last week for a roundtable discussion. The Ambassadors are a group of students who serve as a president of a club or organization and were chosen for their leadership roles on campus. First on the list, was to talk about why the students are proud to be a Lufkin Panther. Here are a few of their answers:

“We have a friendly, loving community. We’re supportive of each other.”

“Everyone here is a family. We give each other respect.”

“It sticks around after you graduate. Lufkin stays a part of you even when you leave. Once a Panther always a Panther.”

“Teachers are there to work with you. They will stay after school. They want you to succeed and do better.”

“In the art department we have teachers that are very helpful and good at teaching. They challenge you which makes you grow.”

“We have opportunities. The opportunity to come together as a group.”

“I like the Go Center that provides us with opportunities where we can broaden our horizons. They are really helpful. They help us one-on-one to fill out applications.”

“Our teachers support us in our extra curricular events.”

“I like the Ignite program to support Freshmen.”

“When we had Family Night at the stadium so we can get to know the little kids.”

“We have great athletes.”

“Our community helps fund scholarships, that’s really special.”

“School spirit – it goes beyond the school. It’s all over town.”

“Your teachers will help you in the morning.”

“Everyone’s helpful to the freshmen as we transition.”
