Literacy Night will be October 1st from 5:00 – 6:30 pm. Come out to Herty Primary for a fun night of literacy-based games, popcorn, an Arctic Adventure book fair and prizes! Spirit sticks and snowcones will be available for purchase!

The Scholastic Book Fair will be set up in the Library the Week of September 30th. Please plan on coming to Herty for Literacy Night on October 1 for an evening of fun literacy activities, free popcorn, a trip to buy some awesome books from the book fair and purchase a snowcone from Kona Ice!

Herty staff is busy planning and preparing for the upcoming school year! Our first day of school is August 14, 2019. “Meet the Teacher” will be on August 12, 2019 from 3:00 ’til 5:00 PM. Shout-out to First Baptist Church for a delicious breakfast on our first day back! Also, a huge thanks to CHI St. Lukes’s Health – Memorial for another wonderful breakfast and gift pack (jumper-cables and tools!!!!) this week. 1st and 2nd grade awards assemblies were held for the 4th nine weeks. Click on “read more” for pictures of the event(s). Students presented songs, received many awards for citizenship, top dojo, Top Hornets, A-honor roll, A/B-honor roll, perfect attendance, 50-books, 100-books, 200-books read and two students received huge trophies for reading 300 or more books! Herty students celebrated the end of the school year with a school wide “water day”! The kids enjoyed getting soaking wet with the water limbo, a sudsy soaking slipping slide, a bouncy house/water slide, belly bumpers, and finishing off the rotation with a dunking booth and snow cones! A certain group of Herty 2nd graders were rewarded with a trip to the splash pad at Kiwanis Park. Students who have taken and passed 100 Accelerated Reader books went to the water park recently. Click on read more for many pictures of this fun trip!read more
Mr. Wade’s class hosted a “Muffins with Mom” breakfast in celebration of Mother’s Day. Moms were treated to muffins, fruit, and kolaches along with juices. The classroom was beautifully decorated with flowers, pictures of the students and balloons. The students presented their mom with an “all about mom” writing piece and a gift of appreciation. This celebration was complete with a photo booth, a slideshow of moms with their children and a dance and singalong in honor of all moms!
