Coston Elementary School Principal

Dear Coston Families,

I am excited about the 2017-2018 school year. Coston Elementary School (CES) has a dedicated and passionate faculty, supportive parents and creative, energetic students. We are going to do great things together. Although I hope you have had a fantastic summer and are enjoying the last few days, I trust that you also are getting excited about the school year. Here is a list of some important information for the start of the year:

• Coston’s registration is located on our district website. All students must be registered before receiving a schedule on Aug. 14. If you would like assistance, please stop by the office between 8 a.m.-3 p.m. after Aug. 2, 2017. The first day back for students will be Aug. 16. The school day is 7:45 a.m.-3:05 p.m.

• The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 16. Our school hours are from 7:45 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. The building opens for students at 7:05 a.m. Students should not arrive before 7:05 a.m.

• Coston Elementary School has a great group of parents that would like to start a PTK. We want you to join our current parent group in supporting our school and moving forward in selecting a PTK Board. Please consider helping out with a committee and our PTK initiative. Information will be available at Meet the Teacher on Monday, Aug. 14, from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

• Coston Elementary School provides a variety of programs and experiences that meet the needs of all our students. Last year our students participated in UIL competitions, The Young Scholars Program, tutorials for intervention and advanced skills, Honors Choir, Running and Track competition, The Superintendent Honor Roll Breakfast, The Class of 2024 Day Camp, STEM Day, Over Night Cougar Camp, Young Men’s and Ladies Etiquette Club, Community In School’s Young Piolet’s Day, along with giving back to our community by beautifying our neighborhood, collecting for food and clothing donations. We also have a variety of clubs including cooking and soccer to name just a few. We hope you encourage your child to get involved and we ALWAYS need volunteers!

• Coston does have a dress code and school supply list that can be accessed through the Lufkin website at www.lufkinisd.org.

With your support, we will continue to develop the very real gifts and talents of all of the students at Coston Elementary School. On behalf of the staff, we are energized and excited about the upcoming year and we look forward to working with your children! Please do not hesitate to call or email me or any of the CES staff if you have additional questions.

Excited about the year!
