About Me

Hi, I am Mrs. Angie Fuller.

Professional Life:  I’ve called Herty Primary “home” for fifteen years.  I started my career in the school system when my youngest child started Kindergarten in 2001.  I was hired at Kurth Primary as a PreK paraprofessional.  It took about two days to decide that I loved my new job!  Soon after I started pursuing my teacher certification through Stephen F. Austin’s Post Baccalaureate Internship Certification program.  In the Fall of 2004, I was hired at Herty Primary teaching PreK.  I taught PreK for ten years before transferring to third grade at Brookhollow Elementary.  Being a Brookhollow Beaver was a wonderful experience, but I missed the primary aged student, so I transferred back to Herty as a first grade teacher.  After two years in first grade, I transferred into Special Education to teach Content Mastery.  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my job!

Personal Life:  I have been married to Rusty and lived in Lufkin for thirty-two years.  We have three adult children, one son-in-law and one daughter-in-law…….they are Samantha & Will McElroy, Demi Fuller and Chase & Sheridan Fuller.  I am Granny to the most precious baby boy, Creed Coffman McElroy!  He is my first an only grandchild!  See below for this wonderful blessing!  I am also “granny” to three dogs and one cat.  My hobbies include reading, shopping, cooking and a little gardening.  I’m passionate about time with family and my pets. I am a dog lover!  My dogs are Carter, Buddy & Jermaine.  My cat’s name is Lydia.   I come from a very LARGE family.

More info:  My love for reading has taken me all over the world!  My favorite author is Mary Higgins Clark.  Mrs. Clark writes suspenseful mysteries that keeps me so interested that I usually read her book(s) in a couple of days.  Mrs. Clark’s books usually take place on the East coast, mostly in New York, but also in Martha’s Vineyard.  Because of her books,  I’ve always wanted to visit New York and Martha’s Vineyard ….. this trip is coming soon!  I also remember reading Trixie Belden books (more mysteries) as a young reader in the early ’70’s.  Trixie Belden books also took place in Martha’s Vineyard and the New York area.  At this same period of my life, I loved reading the Ramona Quimby books and these books are still popular today!  Another favorite author is John Grisham.  Mr. Grisham writes novels based on legal issues.  His books typically take place in Mississippi and a few books have been produced into movies.  As a teacher, I hope to pass along my love for reading to my students and pray they will become life-long readers!

As I travel, I try to buy a book (or more than one) from each vacation spot.  My collection includes a great informational text with gorgeous pictures of Cades Cove, Tennessee, a biography of Ernesto Coppel, owner and developer of Pueblo Benito Resort in Cabo, San Lucas.  While touring the Grand Canyon this past spring, I bought two picture books detailing the history and beauty of this amazing wonder of the world.  Other literary pieces in my collection are from the Wine Country of Fredericksburg, Texas;  Scenic Highway 1 that goes through Carmel-by-the- Sea and San Fransisco, California; and Creed & Pagosa Springs, Colorado.  To me books are the best way to tour the world AND to remember places traveled!
